Read mode is wordlet's comprehensible-input practice: instead of drilling cards one by one, you read a short connected story written in your deck's term language. Tap any word in the passage — not just words already in your deck — to reveal a word gloss, the sentence translation, or the full passage translation. When you meet something new, add it to your deck with one tap.
Open any deck with a term language and definition language set and at least a few cards, then choose Read from the deck page. wordlet picks vocabulary from your due and new cards (filling in with other deck words when needed) and asks AI to write an 80–150 word passage that uses those words naturally. Translations for every word, each sentence, and the full passage are precomputed up front — tap a word to cycle through word, sentence, and full layers. Each passage is saved so you can revisit recent stories. Generation uses your daily AI allowance; limits are shown if you hit the cap.
Seeing words in a sentence builds richer memory than isolated term–definition pairs. You learn collocations, grammar patterns, and how a word feels in real use. Layered tap-to-translate keeps the flow light: start with a single word, widen to the sentence, or reveal the full passage only when you need it. Adding unknown words while you read turns every story into a harvest for future study. Pair Read sessions with Learn or flashcards to move from recognition in context to active recall.
Use Read when you want a low-pressure break from grading cards but still want exposure to your vocabulary — and a way to grow the deck from real text. It works well after adding new words, before a listening session, or at the end of a study day. Read mode does not change your FSRS schedule — it is pure input. Follow up with quiz or typing drills when you are ready to test yourself on the same words.
